Tips for my next Karate tournament?

What should I work on for my next tournament? I lost the first 2 rounds to the big guy but won all the other 6 rounds (I'm the brown belt).

The pinan is also known as Pinan Sono Go
Hi guys so I just learned this Kata and no one seems to know the bunkai for it in my dojo (my head sifu is injured right now so I cant ask him). So like the last one, just a few questions:
1. Is there anything special about the high block at 5:09? We dont step through with a punch, we do a knife hand. after the knifehand (so we are in a cat stance) we step over into a futo on our left side and do a hammer. Is that a hidden fist throw technique?
2. 5:28. Theres gotta be something more to that jumping cross block. If I remember correctly, pugpaws said its a really nasty throw that starts as a jointlock and ends with a throw?
3: Our version is slightly different. For one thing, multiple times we turn in our stances towards the end 180 or even at the very end 360 degrees before striking for no apparent reason. At the very end we do a pull tension move (A move where you pull strength and breath throughout a slow movement). What we do is, in a futo, looking one direction with our hands in spears facing the opposite direction, we slowly move them across our body into a spearhand strke and look where out hands were. We then step over and do the same thing on the other side.
So is there hidden bunkai in this kata? Thanks!
3 คำตอบMartial Arts7 ปี ที่ผ่านมาWhat are these movements in Pinan Sono san?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rock1v3ywcM
First of all my version is called Pinan 3 and is slightly different than this version,
1: Is there anything special about the hammer at 2:54? For some reason we practice it slow (called a pull tension) We also drag it across our body (we move into a cat stance and move both our foot and our arm straight across out body, what is the bunkai of this?)
2: Okay this is where it gets interesting, 2:58: what is this move called? I have several theories on it but no one really seems to know what it is? I've been told its some sort of headlock (guillotine, headlock, another im not sure the name of), as well as its origin was called the presenting of the blades because you held to weapons to your side, if you know anything about that PLEASE explain. Ive also heard (some styles practice it with the fists behind the back) this was a move for practicing defense against restraint and to protect the kidneys? We were taught the elbow movement was a block but we do not dip down like that in our style? We also throw an inverted punch instead of a backfist.
3: We have the move at 3:15 and were taught it is the basis for a throw. I've also heard its an elbow strike. But while we do the move twice, we dont do that little side shuffle hop, whats the point of that? Thanks!

Or is it the way I was taught back in shotokan, the sai between both hands?

at 2:34 , looks like a suplex? Would this be effective in a street fight?
4 คำตอบMartial Arts7 ปี ที่ผ่านมาWhat the heck is a Siboc!?
So in my style ( it came from Kajukenbo) we have Sifu's and Sibocs. Siboc means assistant teacher. Where did this term come from? I've never heard it in a different style.

http://iainabernethy.co.uk/content/pinan-heian-yod...
Though this was interesting.
I've heard the Gedan juji uke can be used as a jointlock, but don't see how. The main thing we use it for in my style is a knife disarm.
What the heck is the point of the cross high block/jodan juji uke? Now that I think about it it isn't in any of the kata's/pinons I've learned. It might be in one I haven't.
4 คำตอบMartial Arts7 ปี ที่ผ่านมาTucking your chin during forms/sparring.?
So during the 2 videos of me I've posted on here in questions, almost everyone said I should not be tucking my chin because it 'shows a lack of confidence'. I agree with this. However, I was doing it intentionally (and possibly a little too far, now that I watch the videos more carefully) because I was taught to do this 1: Because it makes your face a smaller target and your opponent is more likely to hit your forehead 2: It leaves your jaw much less exposed to sideways blocks such as haymakers, hooks, and roundhouse kicks, and also upwards snap kicks/uppercuts 3: Tucking the chin protects the Trachea.
However, what I am worried about is what someone said, that tucking your head renders you off balance. So my question is what do you think about this?
12 คำตอบMartial Arts7 ปี ที่ผ่านมาWhen you do an upper body strike while advancing, do you strike...?
Before your foot lands forward or afterwards? I'm thinking mainly for kata for this question. The way I was taught is to land first then hit so you are in balance, but I've heard more than once this is wrong. What do you think, please explain instead of just taking a side.
7 คำตอบMartial Arts7 ปี ที่ผ่านมาThis is a video of the highlights of my test yesterday...?
I'd like you guys to please tell me what I need to work on. I was most disappointed with my intensity and power in my forms. I also noticed I was a little sloppy during sparring. What do you see?

In case you didn't read the video description, I'm the one with the flag on the side of my Gi.

and not only criticizing what I need to work on, but also just watch the katas from a different style? I am a green belt in my style of kempo and I know 7 of the 10 forms.
8 คำตอบMartial Arts7 ปี ที่ผ่านมาFor those of you who have worked with the Eku or Okinawan oar.?
What is the right way to grip it? I hold it about a third up the weapon with my left hand and with my right I hold it at the base of the blade and put my thumb along the back of the blade of the oar. Is this right? I don't want to get disarmed.
