NO YOU CAN'T FOOL WITH MOTHER NATURE, IT WILL TURN ON YOU WITHOUT WARNING, AND THERE IS NOTHING YOU OR ANY TECHNOLOGY ALIVE TODAY OR THOUSANDS OF YEARS FROM TODAY WILL BE USEFUL AGAINST IT. THE GREENHOUSE EFFECT SHOULD TELL YOU THAT MUCH. WE ARE ALL BEND ON DESTROYING OURSELVES AND BY TRYING TO CONTROL MOTHER NATURE WE ARE DOING A VERY VERY GOOD JOB AT IT. ANOTHER 50 YEARS OF SO AND WE ARE GONE, IF WE KEEP AT THIS SUICIDAL PATH.

Through technology we attempt to control nature. This can be largely successful... most of the time. However, bu changing natural tendencies in the world around us, we also make disasters more powerful when they do happen. Look back to Katrina. What happened there that made it such a disaster? The levee system we put in place to try to hold back water broke, releasing a far greater volume of water than there normally would be without the levees. The hurricane itself wasn't even that bad and had already passed. Floods due to breaking dams and levees are probably the most common disaster exacerbated by technology, but others exist. For example, earthquake "proof" construction means that structures will withstand mild to moderate earthquakes better. However, an earthquake powerful enough to break the reinforcements will do more damage than it might otherwise because the rigidity of the building has been increased. Wild fires throughout most of the 20th century were immediately put out. That caused the levels of underbrush and dead fall to build up, which led to some truly horrific fires that couldn't be stopped. Fire services now wisely let these fires burn themselves out and simply try to guide them away from populated areas. So yes, we try to control nature. For the most part it works out. It can make us safer and provide us with needed amenities (such as fresh water). It can also fail dramatically and cause great damage when it does.

To some extent, Yes. We develop or destroy the earth's landscape for various purposes and reasons thereby causing changes in mother nature - like climate change. But we cannot completely control mother nature even with high tech gadgets. Hurricanes, typhoons, earthquakes, drought or excessive rains/floods, epidemic, etc... still come uncontrolled by humans. We can only predict their occurrence but we cannot control them.

I don't know, like weather wise that is pretty impossible but you never know. I hope not. Not all this technology is a good thing. However if technology could stop natural disasters in the future that would be a good thing right?

I don't think so at all. The technology is just pushing nature's limits until the planet has had enough and hits the big old reset button. It does it every couple of million years. We're a blip on the radar.

Over aeons of time...Mother nature can shift continents.

She can change apes into man. She can rise mountains from the sea bed, and likewise sink them. She can can certainly erode away man`s greatest concrete edifices, and weed over the deserted city roads. She can split volcanoes. Blow deserts dry of sand. And in the matter of mighty earthquakes, split the earth and swat out thousands of beings at one blow.

No, we will never control her. Our civilization is less than a curious second on her clock of time.

Mankind will always try to control everything, but i do not think it is plausible. Do not be surprised when you find out just how hard people will try, and how much money they will sink into it.

    Bye
