How to make the name for baby that half Thai and Australia?

Have you noticed that most sophisticated Thai names are really long? That is because those names derived from Pali or Sanskrit languages. Thai cultural, language, mannerism and buddhism have interwoven and blended together. Parents go to monks to ask for blessing names for their kids prosperity in lives. Those names work beautifully when he/she be in Thai cultural context. But when you live aboard; it is a different story.

If you go to the monks (many prefer this option), you will definitely get the blessing names with Pali/Sanskrit based languages. Monks are teachers and experts in these languages. And they have been asked to do so. But you can ask monks to kindly find great but short name(s) for your son/daughter if you plan to ask monks.

My parents' named me a quite long and awesome Thai name (and of course with Sanskrit language & meaning). I am absolutely grateful for their kind thoughts and effort behind that. However, studying and living aboard, I've heard so many millions times "what the hack is that name?". People can barely pronounce mine correctly!!! And I can barely fit my name in spaces provided when I have to fill out any application. It was not a pleasant experience for a child.

So I will advocate to name your child with simplicity. Thai names can be short and meaningful and can serve the purpose you want (to maintain cultural identity). I advocate for a name that does not make a child feel alienated or too different from the others.

So 2 of you sit down together with your Thai spouses and write down the meanings that you want to implicated in your child's name; then look them up in Thai dictionary and pick the one that makes the most sense and more importantly when it gets written and pronounced in English it doesn't sound funny to anyone.

Keep it short and yet meaningful, your child will truly appreciate your efforts.

Most Thai people i think they get the name from Monk,coz they will consider from date of birth,think that in the future he/she will has a good life or lucky.but if u didnt believe in this,,u can just pick up any name that u like.itwill be ok.

So any people can s uggest me..which temple or which monk?i am also looking for a thai name for my little girl, coz i really have no idea too!
