Why do I breakout only around the mouth area?

For years now, I've been getting breakouts in the same spot on my chin/around my mouth. The most annoying part is that they NEVER go away. In my frustration over the years, I've washed, popped, medicated, picked at and even scabbed them in my attempts to get them to go away. I tried to just leave it alone, but nothing i've ever done yields clear results. If I finally get rid of one of them, or maybe reduce the appearance even, more show up right on top of the others. It's gotten very bad before, like big clusters around my chin, especially on the left side. Is there anything I can take or use to help me clear this part of my face once and for all? I seem to have had them continuously for about 4 or 5 years now and I don't know what to do.

Lol, i dont have herpes; they aren't cold sores, but they are definetly infected pimples. I have used all kinda of things from Stridex pads, to tea tree oil, to all sorts of face washes. Some of them help with the size and the redness, but nothing acutally makes them go away. The thing that is bothering me the most is that that area is NEVER clear. I can't remember a time when it was acutally. It gets infected very easily no matter what care I use. It MIGHT be a diet thing, but I doubt it since I have changed my diet many times over these past years. If there is nothing else perhaps I just need to ask a specialist about it - exept they are so expensive =/

ALSO: I keep fogretting to mention that this is the ONLY place I break out now. When I was younger it was in normal places, but atill not very much. This is very abnormal, and the place I ever experience problems.

some people tend to break out in their t-zones (forehead, nose and chin) others their u-zone (chin and lower cheeks) it all boils down to genetics. you might want to visit a dermatologist or even your gp for more specific advice. also you can try witch hazel it's natural so you probably won't suffer a reaction from it. good luck(:

Dry and/or greasy skin due to poor oil composition of the skin. Thick greasy oils clog pores, lack of oil leads to dryness and irritation. You need thin oils to moisturize while dissolving and clearing gunk in your poors. Try fish oil or seafood. 2 tsp fish oil a day or 4 servings of seafood a week. Stick it out for at least 2 months; it will take a long time to replace all your oil. Any effect after 1-2 days is temporary or random; so even if it makes you break out a little at first, you haven't given it a full try yet.

In the short term you can wash and moisturize well, but that will only go so far. Plus excessive washing can be drying and excessive moisturizing can be clogging. Use a small amount of a light moisturizer, made with oil not jelly or grease. Often that means soybean oil or mineral oil. Mineral oil means mined from the ground. So soybean oil is usually better, though mineral oil won't cause too much harm. Clean with soap and water, not a harsh acne cleanser. Even then they only work so well. So you really need the seafood.

Antibiotics aren't really good for bacteria long term, they'll come back in force after. Short term they may help. After you get off them find some kefir with acidophilus listed first or 2nd to replace the friendly bacteria they destroyed. Studies show less illness when you have these bacteria, even outside the stomach in places such as the lungs and elsewhere. You want friendly bacteria to fill the void when the antibiotics stop, not harmful ones.

In the short term you might also try 100,000+ iu retinol vitamin A (a megadose, and too much for normal use) or one of the acne drugs that is similar to retinol vitamin A. It's some minor harm to your organs, but it helps against bacteria on your skin. At least it doesn't have the other long term drawbacks to your skin that antibiotics and many scrubs do.

If you would like to learn how to treat your acne permanently and regain your health and wellbeing, without drugs, without typical acne treatments, and without any side effects, then this will be the most important letter you will ever read.

okay. So everybody's skin is different and I always hear people say food does NOT effect acne but to be honest I've noticed when I eat chocolate and SODAS I break out more. I also noticed one side of my cheek was breaking out and it happens to be the same cheek I put my cellphone to!!! :| I also noticed that if I picked at the pimple and touched my face a lot I would break out. You have germs on your hands and the more you touch your face the more you will break out because of those germs! Stop picking at your face. In fact don't even touch it! if you really cannot keep from popping a pimple just warm up a towel with warm water and press it on the pimple. Plus when you pop a pimple all that fluid coming out of the pimple gets on your other pores and it probably gets infected and then another zit forms... I dunno. But stop picking at your face and treat it with some acne medication over the counter and leave it alone! :) You should definitely have a doctor look at it... and i'm not saying you have herpes like the first answer on this post maybe they're cold sores? You should definitely have a doctor look at it! Good luck with this!

That just yer weak spot for yer face. My weak spot is forehead! Anyhow, you can get prescription medicines like clindamycin topical or benzaclin RX from your doctor. If you use them once at night, after one week yer acne will be atleast cut in half.

If you don't want an RX, the best thing over the counter for that area and type of acne is this:

    http://www.stridex.com/powerpads_ingred.htm

Make sure it is the stridex power pads with 2.5% or 5% benzoyl peroxide. The other stridex products have salicylic acid, and it doesn't won't work well unless it is in a soap like Neutrogena acne prone face wash. If yer local store doesn't carry them, (mine don't anymore I don't know why) order online!

i don't have it so bad but when i do get spots they also come around my mouth. i think its just genetics cause i clean my face well and my diet is nothing out of the ordinary. iv just turned 18 and saw a pic of me when i was 15 years old... my skin is alot more clearer now than it was back then. So in this case.. time is the answer (i heard make up will cover the spots so its a temp solution but it will only make them spread worse.)
