Should England still take Rooney to Euro 2012?
I think we need him for the knockout rounds. He is our best player.
Who would you take? Bent,Defoe, Carroll, Welbeck, Crouch or even Owen.
I'd rather take Owen, than Carroll or Crouch because we would only be hoofing the ball in the air to them.

Yes, we should. Who knows who we will get in our group.
I think the 5 strikers we should take are Wayne Rooney, Darren Bent(or Carroll), Daniel Sturridge, Jermaine Defoe and Danny Welbeck. Okay, so Defoe is not that good anymore, but still good enough, Bent never made it big, but he still scores when it counts. Rooney IS world class. And when he gets back we will benefit, i hope. Welbeck and Sturridge are young and inexperienced, but both play for big clubs woth a lot of pressure. That can only benefit us and i see both of them being big, big stars in the future. We will be just fine.
We won't win it, Germany, Spain, the Netherlands and even Portugal are just too good for us.
Through Italy and France and maybe even Greece into the mix for teams who are on par (equal to) with us.
But i reckon if we play well... And take the right players, we can at least have a nice little run and restore some pride.
Obviously, we MUST take Joe Hart... Two back ups of Robert Green (the World Cup was a one off with shattered confidence) and then it's up to Capello, though i would like Ben Foster.
Take Ashley Young, James Milner and Frank Lampard (he will be a fringe player), Phil Jagielka, Phil Jones, Smalling, Leighton Baines, Gary Cahill, Micah Richards, Stuart Downing, Theo Walcott, Gareth Barry, Wayne Bridge (**** John Terry), and Adam Johnson.
That is a good squad.

Definitely not Owen or Carroll. I would rather take Bent or Defoe. They're the most consistent strikers for the national team. Defoe is not that consistent with Tottenham but he is with England. If I were to choose one player other than Rooney, it would be Defoe. Crouch can be a super sub.

Carroll and Crouch should go no where near the England team. as far as Owen his does not get enough games for his club.
Bent, Rooney, Sturiegde and Welbeck.

I would take 4 strikers who play with each other week in week out, Rooney, Welbeck, Owen and Hernandez. Oh wait...
Rooney, Welbeck, Defoe and Crouch.

We have several strikers who could replace him, and who can guarantee that they wont do a Beckham and get sent off during the competition. Like him, Rooney has become part of the culture of expensive failure that haunts our football. Why do we celebrate such idiocracy? Get some lads in who can do the job instead!
No point in taking someone who has a high chance of getting us knocked out of the tournament, through childishness. This is a man's game.

I know you say we would be hoofing the ball around, however we can do some damage to teams trying to play pretty football. Why the obsession with pretty football, when you can win.

I bet Colin Bell's generation are watching this and thinking, "Actually we weren't that bad, y'know!"
