questions for fans of barcelona fc?

i read a lot of praise for guardiola and what he has achieved. rightly so because for me they are the best team in the word. but i am interested to know if any of you think that Johann cruyff had much to do with the way barca play their football. i read when he came in he changed the style and coached the youth of the time using the ajax blueprint. what do you think?

It's unlikely that any one person had a bigger effect on Barcelona's style and ethos than Johann Cruyff.

He got Barcelona playing with the total football style that had been so successful at Ajax and with the Dutch national team. He was the one that got Barcelona playing the pass and move style that the whole world adores watching today.

Cruyff also embodied everything that the club represented.

During the dictatorship of General Franco, the Catalan language was banned. Imagine living in a region where 60% of the population has a mother tongue that they're not allowed to use. Cruyff's leftist traits brought him into confrontation with the dictatorship. He openly supported Catalan nationalism. When his son was born he wanted to call him Jordi (after the patron saint of Catalunya) but the name was banned because it was Catalan. Johann Cruyff went beserk and forced the authorities to allow him to call his child whatever he wanted.

    He was an honorary Catalan.

And of course, Guardiola was a disciple of Cruyff. Cruyff was Guardiola's manager when they won the club's first European Cup.

Cruyff didn't change the youth system. When he came in as a player he advised the president at the time that the youth system did not have a very good set up and that he should look at how Ajax did it. It wasn't until the 80s that Barça did something.

As per the style of play, Pep took what he learned from Cruyff and added the possession monopoly. For those who understand football, Barça plays Total Possession football. Lames only follow the ball and think Barça just passes it just like the defenders who get tired because they're constantly chasing the ball. The player's movement is what their football is all about. Their link up plays and the quick thought process at the speed they play is what their football is all about...

I recommend you to watch a Barça match and keep your eyes on the players...

Guardiola was brought up on Cruyff's style of Football. He sees the tiki-taka style of play as the definitive way to play Football, seeing as it was the style of Football he was brought up on. He doesn't claim to invent it, so people should really stop saying he stole it from Cruyff and passes it off as his own, because you're all idiotic little children. Cruyff introduced it to barcelona and before that, somebody else introduced it to Cruyff and before that...you catch my drift.

    Both are good managers.

But Cruyff invented the tiki taka style Guardiola continued it

Wrong. Cruyff brought tiki taka to barcelona and guardiola polished it into perfection. They are both puzzle pieces to each other and their role in writing barca history.

Cruyff made Barcelona's playing style the way it is now, Cruyff is responsible for the "modern" Barcelona style :)

Yes he did play a big part and so did Guardiola, not only did he continue the style of play but he also polished it up to be flawless.

he's a great influence for sure, no one denies that, tho to say he 'coached' youth teams isn't accurate. he got involved, changed/reoriented the youth acad, incorporated principles but the passing/possession football thing is i think a homegrown concept. anyway, who cares about these things now. its history. what matters is how this barca style/philosophy of play is being adopted to the demands of the modern game.
