All of those you mentioned are good examples of "R" words.
"L" words aren't meant to sound like "R" words, although there are some people that pronounce "L" words as an "R", this is because English is not their first language (which is more than understandable). "L" sounds are not as commonly used in other languages, that's all. Some may pronounce "Lucky Duck" as "Rucky Duck". (that would be a mispronunciation). But many English-speaking people would mispronounce (almost) every word when trying to learn Japanese, Chinese, Russian or Greek.
There aren't any sounds that mimic the "R" sound in some other languages. Other than to say that the sound is somewhat like a sound that a wild animal may make when he growls. Like:
"iiiirrrrr iiiiiirrrr"-growl-y sound is what an "R" sounds like.
There really are no examples that the letter "L" sounds like an "R". As long as you remember that, you will be fine. Try not to project the negative thought that you can not control your mouth because that isn't it. Some have tried to make statements to that effect and it simply is not true. If one is attempting to learn another language there are bound to be instances where they will not be speaking as if they had grown up with that language. Some languages don't even contain some of the characters/letters that other languages do. "Xiao" is difficult for English-speakers to understand in that it sounds like "Shee ou". But that doesn't translate into anyone not having the capability of learning how to say the words properly.
“Those who have a short frenulum (a strap of tissue linking the tongue to the floor of the mouth) can face problems pronouncing some characters due to a disturbance in lateral movements of the tongue,” said Bae Jung-ho, an oral surgeon at Seoul’s Yonsei Severance Hospital, who operated on a six-year-old last month. (this is ridiculous) A 6-yr old?
Speaking of ridiculous (that would be a particularly difficult word to say).
Ri dic UUU Lus
I suppose the best way to get used to saying "L" words are to just keep saying them.
Lemon
Light
Lard
Lollipop
Lime
Lumberjack
Lucky
Try these audio examples and see if it helps.
